Cine film fuelled the explosion in home movies. Whilst they may not have had the clarity or the ease of modern day recording technologies, there is something unashamedly innocent about such filming, even if that innocence now only comes through in hindsight and nostalgia.
Back in the 70s and 80s when cine film was at its most prevalent, children could roam freely in the great outdoors without the web of fear that many parents feel these days once their kids start heading off on their own. On top of that, children simply wanted to go out and explore, unlike today when such exploration and social interaction can easily take place from the comfort of their own rooms.
Whilst people quite happily transfer their VHS to DVD, few think about transferring old rolls of cine film, thinking that the old technology simply won’t gel with the new. However, this is not the case and whilst VHS to DVD may seem more normal, transferring super 8 films offers you the chance to keep the same great feeling that those old home movies had.
Today, it is still possible to buy super 8 rolls, although the cameras and stock are likely to be far smaller and far easier to use. The richness that these cameras can capture is amazing, and will offer results far different, and in many ways far better, than the best modern camcorders will. Then, as easy as it is to transfer video to DVD, these home movies can then be transferred to DVD, offering you a chance to capture memories in a far more interesting, unique, and dare we say innocent way.
Cine films may not be common anymore, but this is actually what makes them even more appealing. And transferring the results is as easy as any video to DVD transfer.
