Drink Don’t Drive

Many people are unaware of just how long alcohol stays in the system. Whilst refraining from driving after a few drinks is common practice for most, the following morning may well be a different story, and huge numbers of people get behind the wheel every single morning and drive when they are still over the limit.

Many people will feel absolutely fine to drive, but if the alcohol is still in your system then it will still have the potential to impair judgement and indeed concentration. Not only this, but with over 20% of all accidents being caused by fatigue, the poor night’s sleep that accompanies alcohol consumption for most will also serve to add an extra reason why the next morning after a night of drinking is usually not the best time to drive.

This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t go out and have a good time though – instead simply think of ways to avoid driving the following morning should you so decide to go out and have a drink. Planning ahead and organising a car share or a lift with friends will help, as will considering the public transport options available to you. Not only will such steps help you avoid accidentally drink driving but they will also mean you might even get a little extra time to sleep off that hangover.

Delivery services can also help. Whilst it may seem an expensive way to go about picking up or dropping off items that you may need to deliver, should you have to do so the morning after a few drinks, a courier could be very beneficial.

Not only are delivery services a far easier, and in certain circumstances safer, way to get or deliver goods (they will have a far more focussed way of transporting any item, making not only your journey safer but the items themselves too), but if you find the right courier it could even save you money as the price of fuel can make doing it yourself extremely costly, whilst professional companies can group many deliveries together to make it far more cost-effective.

Small and Medium Businesses can Benefit from Pallet Delivery

Pallet delivery is used for transporting heavy or bulky items, as well as large quantities of smaller items. Great road networks now make it a reliable solution for transporting merchandise and freight across the UK and even to mainland Europe. Being able to use a pallet jack or fork lift truck makes it so much easier to load and unload goods, as well as speeding up the whole process and saving your business time and money. Pallets can come in different sizes and can be wooden, plastic or even steel, but it is important to make sure you have the right pallet to support the weight of the goods you will be transporting. A full pallet will generally support about 1200kg, but the goods should all be positioned on the pallet and not overhanging. Half pallets and quarter pallets are also possible at normally 500kg and 250kg respectively.

Most small and medium-sized businesses can?t afford to have their own fleet of lorries for transportation purposes, and for this reason courier services are often employed for pallet delivery and collection, offering a cost-effective solution. Particularly, as many businesses now deliver to and collect from Europe, this is beyond their means without a dedicated courier service.

Madex Logistics provide a range of courier services across the UK and the EU at competitive prices and are a member of Palletways, the largest dedicated freight distribution service for small consignments in Europe. They offer a range of services including same and next day delivery for the UK, and can also organise for larger consignments to be delivered through one of their trusted partner European agencies. Being able to book and track your delivery online will also save you and your business time and money and simplify the whole process even further.
