These days, many firms struggle to meet their own warehousing demands and so decide to outsource such storage to other organisations. Often, they combine this with pick and pack services to help them fulfil their logistical agreements with customers.
Showing there is demand for warehousing, more buildings of this nature are to be created at the South Humber Gateway.
Located next to the busiest ports complex in the country, as well as two international airports and road and rail networks, this is an area of considerable activity. Over the next ten years, it is thought that around £3 billion of investment will be made in the area.
In a new development, North Lincolnshire Council has approved plans for developments that will see warehousing, offices, a business park, transport depots and more being built on land in East Halton.
It is though that the project will lead to the creation of around 5,363 jobs.
Commenting on the issue, leader of the local authority Councillor Liz Redfern said: “I cannot stress enough what a major achievement it is that we have managed to balance the needs of nature conservation and development with a large part of the site to be used for landscaping and habitat creation, and balanced with the creation of more than 5,000 jobs with over half of those being manufacturing jobs, is wonderful.”
She also claimed the development is a “major breakthrough” and suggested it will mark the first step to attracting further investment on the South Humber Gateway, which has the potential to be “Europe’s leader in renewable energy”. In addition, she stated that the changes will put the region “on the map for the right reasons”.
Some of the companies that make use of the storage options set to become available on the site might also seek to utilise pick and pack services.
